He is Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, University Hospital of Cologne /Chairman, German Resuscitation Council and Director Science and Research of the European Resuscitation Council.

He was elected to membership of the Leopoldina, the National Academy of Science, 2014 and he is known as a scientist and medical doctor with strong passion and commitment to improving bystander resuscitation.

Dave Singlee, Key Note speaker and Mentor

Supporting security and privacy are essential in wireless communication systems. Without the necessary cryptographic countermeasures, wireless communications are easy to intercept and modify, and the end-user’s privacy can be compromised. 

Dr.Ir. Dave Singelee works as an industrial research manager (IOF) at the research group COSIC of KU Leuven, one of the world renowned research groups in the domain of cryptography and ICT security. Dave's main research interests are cryptography, security and privacy of wireless communication networks, key management, distance bounding, cryptographic authentication protocols, and security solutions for medical implants.

In his keynote, Dave will introduce some of the main research challenges for cryptography in wireless networks and how to overcome them.


Dr. rer.nat. Pauline Schumacher will act as Mentor and Coach

Pauline provides a strong academic and professional background in Life Sciences, Translational Medical Research and entrepreneurial education gained at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany, the Ecole Normale Superieure in Lyon, France and at the Genetics Department at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York.

Throughout her career, Pauline has achieved excellence by employing state of the art technologies and combining intellectual competence in problem solving with taking initiative in forming high performing teams.

Monika Hauck Managing Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at WHU / Speaker on Business Modeling and Design Thinking

Monika Hauck is the Managing Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. She is pursuing a Doctoral degree in Entrepreneurship and is specializing in topics such as Corporate Venturing and Open Innovation in the Creative Industries. During the Hackathon she will advise the teams in early stage idea generation process and Lean Startup methodology.


Mohammad Shehadeh Msc. will act as  Mentor and Coach

Mohammad is a researcher in the field of human-robot interactions within Industry 4.0 at the Cybernetics Lab IMA/ZLW & IfU at RWTH Aachen University; his background is Computer Aided Conception in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. His contributions are characterised by developing integrated solutions with the simultaneous consideration of ergonomics and advanced technologies. Moreover, he is involved in the healthcare through data analytics of diagnostics, care and curing data; and going a step further to develop business models and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities.


Aleksandar Stofanovic, Key note speaker and Mentor

Jan-Philipp Beck will provide us with a Key Note

Jan-Philipp acts as Chief Operating Officer at EIT Health and will become the most recently designated CEO of EIT-Health by 1st February. As part of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology of the European Union, EIT-Health supports consortia in the development of health technology projects. EIT Health thereby promotes entrepreneurial talent and supports new ideas by bringing together actors from the "knowledge triangle" of business, education and research in order to increase the innovation capacity of EU countries and thereby contribute to sustainable economic growth in Europe.


Jan Ekiel will act as Mentor

Entrepreneur and IT manager with over 20 years of experience in Software, IT and telecommunication. Over 10 years’ experience in R&D IT projects in Orange Labs (Orange Group) in e-health, accessibility and customer care areas. From 4 years he develops the software house  Liki Mobile Solutions: software developers R&D team on demand for innovation projects. Jan is cofounder and CEO of the Liki. Together with people full of passion: software architects, graphical designers, project managers, IT ninjas and team angels he builds great and valuable IT solutions for: health, telecommunication, automotive business verticals.

Dr. Bart Braem will act as Mentor and Coach

Wireless communication systems are ubiquitous, but not always reliable. Without proper network management, a fully functional application will degrade quickly. Dr. Bart Braem is a senior researcher at the IDLab research group of imec, the world-leading research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies. Bart’s research interests include Internet of Things, smart cities and challenging wireless networks.


Prof. Dr. rer. nat.Wilhelm Stork will act as Mentor

He is Head of the Institute for Information Processing Technologies of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies. He is an expert and researcher on (wireless) sensor networks, optical sensors for industrial automation (optoelectronic sensoric) in medicine and technology development.

His curiosity and drive towards applied science, his push towards entrepreneurial thinking while fully committed to science and research led to various start ups and spin offs from KIT under his leadership.


Dr. Ing. Christoph Beck will act as Mentor and Coach

Christoph owns a PhD in Electrical Engineering and has held engineers and leadership positions in technical R&D and MedTech. He has been involved in various projects as a portal and wireless unit for human vital signs, a portal neurostimulator, infusion pumps, defibrillators, ECG, and pulse oximeter to name just a

few. He owns various patents, regularly publishes scientific papers and has deep knowledge in medical device development, incl. his expertise in device regulations such as MDR, 13485, 60601, 14971, 62304, 62366 to ensure compliant development. Christoph runs his own company for MedTech Development (www.MDEG.ch) with affiliates in Germany

and Switzerland, while leading the technical development of EmergencyEye® at Corevas GmbH & CO.KG.


Christopher Smolka –  Speaker on Business Modeling

Christopher is responsible for the Corporate Innovation & Venturing unit at Hahn Gruppe, and PhD Candidate in Entrepreneurship at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
In his presentation, he will talk about business modeling covering lean startup, business model canvas and customer development.
